PracticeHoward Gorman is a partner at Macleod Dixon LLP and practises primarily in the areas of insolvency and civil litigation. Howard is the Chairman of Macleod Dixon LLP's Insolvency and Restructuring Practice Group. Howard practices out of Macleod Dixon LLP's Calgary office. Macleod Dixon LLP also has offices in Toronto, Moscow, Almaty, Caracas and Rio de Janeiro. His practice has developed with emphasis in the areas of workout and recovery, insolvency, oil and gas and commercial disputes. Howard has acted on behalf of numerous secured and unsecured creditors, insolvent or financially challenged corporations and individuals and insolvency practitioners in their capacity as receivers, trustees and monitors. His litigation practice has resulted in numerous appearances at the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench and the Court of Appeal of Alberta, as well as the Bankruptcy Courts in Alberta, and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. Howard has been involved in numerous significant restructurings or receiverships including acting for the Air Canada and Blue Range Resource Corporation Creditors' Committees, for Bre-X Minerals, Solvex Corporation and Highwood Distillers as debtors; for significant creditors in the Enron Canada, Merit Energy, Mirant Corporation and Liberty Oil and Gas insolvencies and the Receivers or Monitors in First Mortgage Alberta Funds, Hurricane Hydrocarbons, Palliser Grain and Promax Energy receiverships or restructurings.
