Professional InvolvementIn September 1998, Derrick was the only Canadian insolvency professional invited by the China Judges' Association to lead a seminar in Qingdao, China, with approximately 100 judges from all across China, on the Canadian insolvency and restructuring practice. Derrick has delivered papers on many aspects of insolvency and banking law; authored the book Law of Ontario Personal Property Security, and the Debtor and Creditor chapter in the Canadian Encyclopedic Digest, as well as the chapter on Canadian bankruptcies in The Business Lawyer's Bankruptcy Guide; co-authored the chapter on Secured Transactions in Personal Property for the Digest and has been on the Editorial Board of both the Insol International Insolvency Review and the Commercial Insolvency Reporter. Derrick is listed in the Guide to the World's Leading Lawyers 2004 as one of the top 25 insolvency lawyers in the world. Derrick has been listed in the Insolvency & Financial Restructuring section of The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory since its inception as a frequently recommended leading insolvency practitioner in Toronto.
