What We Do

The IIC provides a unique forum for leading members of the insolvency community to interact and have meaningful dialogue with other members, as well as senior representatives of the federal and provincial governments and members of the judiciary.

As a key part of its work, the IIC supports and encourages research studies and analyses of restructuring, insolvency, and creditors' rights issues. The IIC and its members play a prominent role in the review and reform of Canada's insolvency legislation.

Our Contribution

As a facilitator for collaboration among members on issues of importance to the insolvency community, the IIC continues to make contributions through the following activities:

  • Sponsors and supports public conferences on insolvency-related topics

  • Publishes the papers that are delivered at its annual general meeting

  • Commissions research projects on important issues in Canada's insolvency and restructuring system

  • Maintains links with Canada's leading bankruptcy and insolvency judges

  • In association with one of Canada's leading legal publishers, makes its growing collection of insolvency cases and materials available electronically

The activities of the IIC are guided by the organization's established goals - networking, advocacy, professional development, and membership.

Regional Networking and Professional Development  

Regional events are a significant benefit of membership in the IIC. Committees have been established to plan and coordinate events that offer networking and professional development opportunities for members in that the following regions:

  • Atlantic Provinces

  • Québec

  • Ontario

  • Prairie Provinces

  • British Columbia

Annual Conference

Our annual conference is an opportunity for members to share experiences and exchange ideas through a program of presentations, keynote addresses, case studies, and panel discussions.Conferences are open to members and invited special guests only.

Professional Development

Publications

Each year, the IIC publishes a Symposium edition of the Banking and Finance Law Review featuring articles relating to commercial insolvency that have been written by IIC members.

Annual Review of Insolvency Law (ARIL) Conference

IIC supports this important event as a Sustaining Sponsor. Members of the IIC regularly attend and contribute, as authors and presenters, to the content of the program.

Membership

The strength of the IIC is in its members.  Members contribute on a regular and ongoing basis, through the Board, various standing and ad hoc committees, and their contributions to the annual conference, regional events, the Symposium publication and other IIC activities to advance and further the goals of the IIC.
